2024 AFN Steering Committee Update
Thank you for voting on the 2024 slate of Steering Committee candidates. We are pleased to share that our new Steering Committee members, Cory Blankenship (Read Cory’s member spotlight), Joe Tolbert, Jr., and Kristin Walker Collins, were elected unanimously by the membership to serve as leaders of the Network.
In January, this newly comprised Steering Committee gathered in person in Asheville, North Carolina for a Steering Committee retreat at Dogwood Health Trust’s offices. The retreat was full of careful thought and dynamic discussion, as the Steering Committee dreamed together about the Network’s future and their aspirations for its impact on Central Appalachia. As a result, they came away with some goals for 2024 and some concrete steps to achieve these goals as we continue to press forward together. In the spirit of transparency and inclusion, the stated annual goals are published below:
Increase Group Participation
Develop an improved onboarding mechanism for new members
Provide platforms for reducing the distance between practitioners and funders
Become known as the go-to organization for foundation development in Appalachia (by utilizing the READY Foundations program with ARC)
Deepen Narrative Change work in a way that enables sustained impact (beyond just the pilot project)
Deepen Member Engagement/Community
Explore the role of advocacy within the AFN mission and theory of change
Any AFN member is encouraged to Contact Us should they have questions about these goals and how we might work together toward achieving them.
