AFN Health Group, Central Kitchen, & A Network-Wide Learning Opportunity

During the July Health group meeting, the group invited membership across the network to attend a learn-in with Benedum grantee Healthy Kids Inc., and their Central Food Kitchen project. During, we learned about how this public private partnership has encouraged deep collaboration, economic development, and workforce development in a closed loop system. Through the intention of providing healthy meals for school aged children, Central Food Kitchen project is an undertaking that is both culturally rooted, and community driven. Check out the recording below to also hear more about how the team with AFN member Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation has built deep trusting relationships with a grantee, and how acting as an “integrator” can play a vital role in building out projects that benefit our communities across sectors.

This particular session highlighted the ways the work in our affinity groups intersect in practical ways. If you would like to learn more about AFN groups, or how to get involved, please visit www.appalachiafunders.org/groups-overview.
